FIRST SUMMER DAY AT THE BEACH!!!! I am at the beach all year long but when it's officially summer I have to celebrate. Today was all about the water, as you might be able to tell. It was also the first time I saw the life guard chairs up. Oh, and of course I slipped one bird photo in there.
I haven't had as much time to sit with the birds this summer as last year but I'm trying!! All of these photos were taken in one session. I love the variety of breeds. I also caught a few in flight which is all I can ask for.
This farm is on the way to our friends house. Sometimes the cows are out but I never have my camera on me when they are, except for today!! They were super far away so the photos are not the best but I like them anyway. They remind me of film which I think you know how much I love.
We have a BUNNY!!! There are many bunnies in our neighborhood but this was the first time I saw one in our yard. I had to get sneaky with the photos. Also, his hiding skills are probably just as good as mine. He didn't move behind that pole for a while. Now he's been coming more regularly, treating himself to any leftover bird snacks. If he shows up with babies next spring I might fate with happiness :)
Early one morning I went to check the mail + as I opened the door I found a baby blue jay sitting on our front stoop. It was so cute + didn't seem to mind me at all. I ran back inside + grabbed my camera.
It had found it's way into a near by bush by the time I got back. Also, it's parents were circling the area + making the loudest sounds they could. I kept my distance + of course, I did not touch the bird. I had a mini photo session as I guided it back to the yard. I also managed to capture a few shots of the ma + pa.
Unfortunately, a couple hours later I heard the blue jays going crazy. When I looked out my window I could see them dive-bombing into the fenced-in yard next to ours. They were attacking the neighbor's dog who just so happen to find the baby blue jay.
Once I realized what was happening I ran to the house next door. I had never spoken to these neighbors before so my first words once they opened the door were "Hi, Im your neighbor + your dog is killing a baby blue jay + it's parents might be killing your dog."
He ran to the back yard in stopped the dog but unfortunately it was too late. I managed to stay strong until I made it back home where I then shed many tears for the poor baby bird.
I don't usually like to share sad stories, especially about animals but I want this bird to be remembered. I will print it's photo + hang it up for all to see. RIP BABY BLUE JAY <3
I have finally nail the Cardinal song. I can hear it anywhere. I love capturing birds but I love to learn their characteristics too. Want to know the best way to remember a Cardinal's sound?? It sounds exactly like sneakers squeaking on a basketball court. BOOM!! I'll never forget it now.
